Gossamer Host offers a variety of different configurations for clustered server hosting to meet each client's needs and business demands. Example 1
High content site with strong traffic
Dynamic sites that require a lot of resources for building content can benefit from a cluster. As your traffic and load goes up, we can increase the number of application servers in the cluster and the load balancer will automatically distribute traffic to the most available server.
Redundant server for high availability
If you require your site to be active at all times, we can configure a cluster with an extra server that will take over automatically in the event the first one fails.
Example 2
Heavy e-mail site
Many sites take advantage of our powerful e-mail platform, and have built large scale mail solutions from it. We can create a cluster to distribute the mail volume between servers, and provide the high availability required for e-mail.
The load balancer can distribute incoming mail for spam and virus processing to the least loaded server. As the amount of mail traffic increases, you can simply add more servers. Our performance monitoring will give you a good overview of the health of each server in the cluster.
